Welder/ Fitter

Summary:
Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture water well and oil well drilling and services equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Essential Job Functions:
This positon is responsible for all of the following
Proficiency with assigned welding techniques
Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including weld requirements
Ability to read and interpret conventional and precision measuring instruments
Basic maintenance of welding equipment
Other tasks or duties as may be assigned by supervisor

Other Functions Include:
Regular contact with all levels of personnel throughout the organization
Following all safety policies and procedures.

Education/ Experience Required:
High school diploma (or successful completion of equivalency) preferred
Basic math skills (add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals)
2+ years of welding experience with flux core and mig. Stick welding a plus but not required
Valid Driver s License

Communication Skills Required
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee must have excellent written and oral communication skills. This includes being able to read and write instructions, correspondence, memos, and to converse with staff, co-work, and vendors in a professional manner. The ability to professionally and comfortably interact with all departments is vital. The employee will work closely with various departments to ensure accuracy of work and timely completion of tasks.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (proper lifting techniques required)

Working Hours/ Conditions:
Work hours will be determined by facility management to meet the needs of the business and may require overtime, occasional overnight travel may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The temperatures in the plant can be extreme. The noise level is usually quite loud. Safety glasses are required at all times. Ear protection is strongly encouraged. Hard hats may occasionally be required. May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from on station to another, during the assembly process.

Dress Code:
Company may require all shop employees to wear a company uniform at all times. After full hire, Company pays 35% of the uniform cost. The employee portion of the uniform cost is payroll deducted. Steel toed shoes must be worn at all times. Hair should be clean and groomed; long hair must be secured in a ponytail or under a hat for safety reasons. Groomed mustaches and beards are acceptable. Personal hygiene is strongly encouraged.
